Agreement
for co-operation in education between
Ministry of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and
the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development

Ministry of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, hereinafter referred to as Kazakhstan, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, hereinafter referred to as «OECD»,

in order to appreciate the functional literacy of students in Science, Mathematics and Reading, the extent to which they are prepared for independent life in society,

and to compare the level of obtained knowledges and skills of 15 year-old students of Kazakhstan with the level of obtained knowledges of 15 year-old students of the leading industrialized countries of the world,

have been agreed as follows:

Article 1

Kazakhstan participates in Programme for International Student Assessment PISA (hereinafter referred to as PISA).

The OECD agrees to participation of Kazakhstan in PISA.

Article 2

Kazakhstan ensures that an appropriate infrastructure and appropriate resources are in place to implement the PISA assessment.

As the National Center of the PISA assessment the National Center for the Assessment of the Quality of Education of the Ministry of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan is established. The National Center for the Assessment of the Quality of Education in each new cycle with the duration of one cycle as 4 years will sign with the OECD the Contract for Participation in PISA.

Article 3

The OECD will:

assist Kazakhstan in implementation of PISA assessment at all stages;

provide Kazakhstan with the PISA International report and PISA international database after each cycle of the assessment :o develop its national report.

Article 4

Kazakhstan contributes the cost for the participation in PISA in each new cycle of the assessment in measure established by the OECD while taking part in the current cycle.

Article 5

Kazakhstan agrees to pay the contribution for participation in PISA in each new cycle of the assessment after receiving of the invoice and the amount to pay from OECD with written notification from the bank account of National Center for the Assessment of the Quality of Education of the Ministry of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
